Join Durham County Library for a special presentation by Dr. Pamela Kachurin on the historical, cultural, and political context of the Russo-Ukrainian War. Together we will take a deeper look at the root causes of the current conflict, beginning with the foundation of Kievan Rus in the medieval period and continuing through the Russian Empire, Soviet Union, and post-Soviet Era. Key topics such as Ukrainian statehood, control of Crimea, natural gas politics, and the role of NATO will be analyzed alongside other cultural and political questions. After the presentation, there will be a question and answer session for the audience to discuss the presentation with Dr. Kachurin.
