In anticipation of Temple Grandin Presents, we are hosting a sensory exploration event! This intergenerational, drop-in program will feature three sensory stations for play and exploration, including sensory bins, a tactile printer, and picture communication. We will also give away copies of The Girl Who Thought in Pictures: The Story of Dr. Temple Grandin (one per family, while supplies last).

This program is sponsored by The Durham Library Foundation.

2:00-4:00pm

Main Library Maker Lab (1st Floor)

Registration is encouraged but not required.

This program will have a mix of high and low sensory elements, and the stimulation level will depend upon the number of people in the Maker Lab (including noise and movement) at any one time. If you need sensory friendly elements, the Library can provide sunglasses, and/or headphones, and our Sensory Calming Room is available next to the Maker Lab for sensory regulation as needed. You are also welcome to bring your own sensory items. If you have any accessibility questions or accommodation needs, please contact us at Accessibility_Services@dconc.gov. We ask that all requests be made at least three (3) business days prior to the event to ensure we can provide the best accommodations possible!
