Come celebrate and learn about Kwanzaa through conversation, stories, and songs!

Is this the year that you want to begin your own home tradition of observing Kwanzaa?  Or are you simply curious what this celebration is all about?  North Regional Library is pleased to host a special program about the meaning and practice of Kwanzaa. Join community guest Ivy Burch, founding member of the African American Dance Ensemble, for this all-ages presentation explaining the history and significance of the holiday's principles.

About Ivy Burch: Ivy Burch is a founding member of the African American Dance Ensemble (AADE).  A seasoned dance professional, she is a former dance captain and has been involved with the company for over 35 years. She is also a co-instructor of dance at the Hayti Heritage Center in Durham.

About AADE: AADE uses dance and music to bring awareness to the inequities in our community and through our ART, create positive change. Their mission is to preserve and teach traditional African dance, enhance all Art forms, while collaborating with other organizations to sustain the community through research, education, and empowerment with the Arts as a catalyst.
