Container Gardening: Create Your Own Green Oasis In The City! 

No space for a garden? Not a problem! If you have a little sun, some water, and an area where you can sit a few pots, you’ve got all the ingredients for a container garden that will allow you to grow your own food and flowers! Join Rita Mohanty, Durham County Extension Master Gardener for science-based tips and tricks to create a beautiful and functional green space in your rural or urban living space! 

Rita Mohanty is a technical executive with a PhD in Chemical Engineering. She has spent over 25 years in the field of electronics both in academia and industry. Her true passion is to create a sustainable culture through education and practical examples, both in industrial and community scale. She is a practicing Master Gardener supporting Durham County Extension through community outreach, volunteering at Briggs Ave Community Garden and various local gardening events.    

May 10 in the MakerLab located on the first floor of the Main Library located at 300 North Roxboro Street in Durham.  

Due to high demand for Durham Grown: the Durham County Library Garden Club programs seating is first come first serve. Registration is appreciated to determine the number of seats. Registration is encouraged in order to receive an email reminder about the event and cancellation link if you are unable to attend. Registration does not hold a seat or guarantee a seat.     

Parking is available in the library parking lot or at the North Queen Street Garage located at 115 North Queen Street which is directly across the street from the library behind the apartments under construction.
