There's a fire in the park! Surprise! It's a good thing! Have you ever wondered how an environmental prescribed burn works? Durham County Library is partnering with NC State Extension Forestry and Durham Parks and Recreation Outdoor Recreation to do a prescribed burn on the meadow at West Point on the Eno's Environmental Education Pavilion.

At this event, explore nature, prescribed fire, and North Carolina ecosystems through displays and hands-on activities from our community partners. Explore each community partner's table with information and activities, then the event will conclude with a prescribed burn demo during the last hour!

This event takes places on Saturday, March 29th, 2025 from 3-6pm at West Point on the Eno at Environmental Education Pavilion (5253 N Roxboro Street, Durham, NC 27712).

Accessibility note: On site parking is available, with some movement on gravel and grass services included to explore the tables and activities. If you have any accessibility questions or accommodation needs, please contact us at Maker_STEAM@dconc.gov. We ask that all requests be made at least 3 business days prior to the event to ensure we can provide the best accommodations possible!

No Geolocation available for event.
