What's a fidget quilt? You may have also heard it called a fidget blanket or a sensory quilt or blanket. By any name, it's a small, lap-sized quilt or blanket designed for sensory stimulation and tactile exploration. They can be comforting to someone with Alzeimer's or other dementia as well as children with autism or ADHD.
The quilts we make in this workshop will be given to Duke HomeCare and Hospice for use with their patients, but you may also keep the one you make if you or a loved one could benefit from it.
Basic sewing skills are helpful but not essential. To see examples of the fidgety items we'll be including, take a look at this video from ZMarie Designs. Our quilts will be simpler than hers, but she has great ideas for elements to add to the quilt.
Note that this program will be held on Monday, June 9 and again on Tuesday, June 10. Pick the time (day or evening) that works best for you.
Thanks to The Scrap Exchange for providing many of the materials we'll be using!
