Join Durham County Library & The Horror Writers' Association for a book release event with North Carolina Author Andrew K. Clark and his new novel Where Dark Things Rise. Andrew will read from his book and discuss Appalachia and 80s horror with fellow author P.M. Raymond. Copies will be available for signing and purchase at the event.
Andrew K. Clark is a writer from Western North Carolina where his people settled before the Revolutionary War. His debut novel, Where Dark Things Grow, was released by Cowboy Jamboree Press in September of 2024 was shortlisted for the Wellman Award, is a winner of an IPPY from the Independent Book Publisher’s Awards, a Firebird Book Award, and a Literary Global Book Award. The sequel, Where Dark Things Rise, was published by Quill & Crow Publishing House in September of 2025. His poetry collection, Jesus in the Trailer was published by Main Street Rag Press and shortlisted for the Able Muse Book Award. His work has appeared in The American Journal of Poetry, UCLA’s Out of Anonymity, Appalachian Review, Rappahannock Review, The Wrath Bearing Tree, and many other journals. P.M. Raymond is an award-winning author from New Orleans, Louisiana who knows a thing or two about good gumbo, grits, and café au lait. She is a 2025 Killer Shorts and Horror2Comic Semifinalist, the Sisters in Crime 2024 Eleanor Taylor Bland Award Winner, 2024 Claymore Award Finalist, and 2024 Killer Shorts Finalist. She was named to the 160 Black Women in Horror in 2023. Her debut interconnected short story collection - THINGS ARE AS THEY SHOULD BE and other words to die for - is coming 2026 from Uncomfortably Dark Horror. Her work has appeared in Punk Noir, Flash Fiction Magazine, Kings River Life Magazine, Dark Fire Fiction, Pyre Magazine, The Furious Gazelle, Dark Yonder, and THE MOST DANGEROUS GAMES anthology from Level Best Books, among others.
