The Durham County Women’s Commission, Sister Cities of Durham, Early Years NC, and Durham County Library invite you to join us for an afternoon of global insight and local community connection!

Inspired by her book Four Mothers, author and reporter Abigail Leonard will sit in conversation with County Commissioner Michelle Burton, a veteran educator and child protection advocate.
Together, they will bring a worldwide talk on parenthood followed by a practical resource fair designed specifically for Durham families.
You will be able to leave the author talk and gain real resources from local organizations through the resource fair following the talk!
The Regulator Bookshop will be on-site for anyone wanting to purchase a copy to take home!

Abigail Leonard is an award-winning international reporter and news producer, previously based in Tokyo, where she was a frequent contributor to NPR, Time, and New York Times video. Her stories have also appeared in The Washington Post, Newsweek, and Vox. Learn more about Abigail here.
Michelle Burton is a Durham County Commissioner, elected in 2024 after a long career as a public school librarian and education advocate, including serving as president of the Durham Association of Educators and championing equity and public education issues. Learn more about Michelle here.

Where can I park when the Main Library parking lot is full?
Parking is available in the library parking lot or at the North Queen Street Garage located at 115 North Queen Street which is behind the apartments directly across the street from the library. Parking is free in the garage. Please bring your ticket to a service desk in the library for validation.
