Not your usual writing group. We will talk about craft and technique but also how we share our work, what gets in our way (both as women and writers), who/what supports us and what we smash into as we try to put letters, then words, from our heads into the world. We'll also talk about how we use social media and networks outside select family and friends to build community and support. Every second or third session, we will write...getting into chairs and putting words onto a page. We won't be critiquing each other's work in these twelve weeks but will focus on building relationships, trust and learning from other writers.
Participants won't usually need specific materials but should come with a ready, eager and generous attitude toward writing and the other groups members. Any age, experience level, background etc. is welcome. Join us if this sounds like the write fit for you.
Facilitator mini bio:
Elizabeth M. Johnson is a Durham based writer who recently left consulting, coaching and training work to focus on writing full time. She has facilitated women's groups almost 20 years worth. Elizabeth can be found online @EMJWriting and at www.elizabethmjohnson.net
