DESCRIPTION:All budding writers and storytellers\, ages 8 though 12 years 
 old\, are invited to enter the Katherine Applegate Color Our World Writing 
 Contest this summer! Katherine Applegate\, the Collaborative Summer Library 
 Program's 2025 Reading Champion\, says "Books change the world. And so can 
 you!"\n\nThe writing prompt is\, as follows: “Your writing can change and 
 color our world! Write a short story between 1\,000 – 1\,500 words about 
 a character that takes an action that changes someone else’s day for the 
 better. The action can be as small or grand as you’d like — even small 
 acts can make a big difference! Your story must have a catchy title\, a 
 protagonist that takes an action to make a change\, and a beginning\, 
 middle\, and end.”\n\nPlease enter for a chance to win:\n\n\n	A virtual 
 writing workshop with Katherine Applegate\,\n	Autographed copies of Odder\, 
 Crenshaw\, Willodeen\, and Wishtree\,\n	and $500 worth of 
 books!\n\n\nEntries are open from June 1 - July 31\, 2025. Please submit 
 your entries here. All rules and requirements are listed here.\n\nAt 
 Southwest Regional Library\, we will be hosting a Writing Workshop to 
 provide youths with resources and a space to work on their writing! It will 
 be held on July 2\, 2025\, from 3pm-4pm. More information can be found
