Planting Native Flowers for Successive Blooms

Fall is the best time to plant to provide a beautiful garden that attracts bees, butterflies, songbirds, and hummingbirds by providing them with rich sources of the nectar and pollen from early spring to the first frost.  All of our pollinators are at risk and planting natives provides them the resources they need to survive and thrive.  The Master Gardeners are presenting a PowerPoint with detailed handouts for creating a garden with native plants that support our pollinators.  No matter how small your garden space, even if it is on pots on a patio, you can do your part to support pollinators!

Jeanne Arnts is a Durham County Master Gardener (since 2017), an Orange County Beekeeper (2016), a member of the New Hope Bird Alliance Bird Friendly Habitat Team (2018) and received an advanced certificate in native plants from the N.C. Botanical Gardens (2023).

More programs for Durham Grown: the Durham County Library Garden will be posted on the online events calendar.
